Our Story

Carbon XS Cycles was born out of the frustration of a dad trying to find a lightweight kids bike for his 3-year-old daughter to ride and race. It simply didn’t exist. So, what does an engineer who specialises in composites (and loves to ride) do?  He builds one.

And so, the MAD1 was born– a full carbon dual-suspension bike, weighing in at just under 11 lbs (5 kg). The MAD1 showed that weight and design gave a level of performance unequal to any other bike we had seen. But we didn’t stop there.

We ditched the pink seat and the carbon disc brake and kept designing and testing. Geometry and design was finalized at the MAD5 and we set about with a group of small test riders to learn everything we could.

The results the bike produced spoke for themselves. We were building with the right understandings and focus. The bike then went through final tweaks and adjustments and the “MAD6” was finalised.

The MAD6 family now extends all over the world with bikes in USA, Europe, Asia, Australia & New Zealand. Parents love the MAD6 as it lets kids ride for longer without struggling up hills or bouncing around on bumpy tracks.

Our core philosophy remains unchanged: every ounce counts. It’s informed every design decision. Even the seemingly small ones, like opting not to use a quick-release seat post clamp because it adds more than an ounce of weight.

Riding is fun. Racing is fun. Winning is fun !
